Mostly Harmless

Because therapy is expensive

My name is Ahmed Aboulenein, I am an Egyptian journalist currently with Reuters in London.

I write about Egypt and journalism, mostly. But also about books, television, my love of kebabs, history, etc. And the odd rant or musing.

Why should you read this? You probably shouldn’t. I have nothing to offer you. I mostly write out of boredom. Go away.

This blog used to heavily feature personal political opinions. It no longer does so because as a journalist I should maintain freedom from bias or at least the appearance of it.

Nonetheless I won’t delete my previous posts; that is dishonest. Just don’t cite anything I wrote before September 2014 in your smear campaign against me, please.

I was born and raised in Cairo where I studied English and history at university before working as a political reporter for a year at a local English-language daily. I then studied journalism for a year in New York.

  1. I can offer you free therapy if you’d like. All for the sake of the cold.
